First Choice Solar Gold Coast

First Choice Solar was established in 2010 and founded on the Gold Coast. Since 2010 it has completed nearly 15,000 installations. Matt McKinley is the Owner/Director. The company employs a large team of qualified electricians and accredited solar installers. It operates from two flagship sites servicing South East Queensland and the Northern Rivers region of NSW.

First Choice Solar does not employ any salespeople. It sponsors the Burleigh Bears Juniors and Seniors, the Currumbin Eagles, Palm Beach Sharks Soccer Club, the Beerwah Bulldogs and First Choice Foundation. Its Row for Life initiative raised just over $50k for local families in need.

Battery storage and solar power systems sit at the centre of what this Burleigh Heads company delivers, with customers describing both fresh installations and expansions of existing setups. Reviewers frequently point to the depth of advice offered before a decision is made, explaining that multiple quotes were provided and system specifications compared in plain language rather than jargon. Matt, Adam, Bobby and Peter are each named for their patience in answering questions, and staff are said to remain approachable through the pre-sales inspection, quoting and final handover.

Something that features in review after review is punctuality, with crews arriving when promised and working efficiently without cutting corners. Customers writing about their orders describe the property being left tidy and the installation site treated with care. The handling of grid approvals and connection paperwork is another recurring theme, described as taking the administrative load off the household. Handover demonstrations of monitoring apps are valued by those new to solar, while battery capacity upgrades and referrals to a roof restoration specialist also appear. Praise extends to the finished workmanship, fair pricing without ongoing maintenance charges and responsive after-sales communication.
