How much does Solar batteries & home energy cost in Brisbane? (2026 price guide)

A home battery storage system typically costs $8,000-$15,000 fully installed for a standard household-sized battery (around 10-13kWh), before any battery rebates that may apply. Adding a battery to an existing solar system is usually similar in cost to installing one alongside new panels, though combined installations sometimes save on labour.

Cost is driven by battery capacity and brand, whether it's retrofitted to existing solar or installed together with new panels, inverter compatibility requirements, and any additional home energy management hardware. Battery rebate schemes vary and can significantly reduce upfront cost where available.

Calculate expected payback period based on your household's evening energy usage before committing, as battery value depends heavily on how much stored solar power you actually use rather than export, and compare warranty length across brands.
