Solar Battery Group's reviews are dominated by repeat and upgrade customers, including a retired electrician and a qualified tradesman who both describe dealing with the company across multiple battery installations over several years without issue. Sales staff are described as technically well-versed rather than pushy, and the installation team is credited with detailing work such as cable sizing between battery and fuse box and setting up the monitoring app so customers can track self-sufficiency through winter. Brands including Alpha-ESS are named specifically. One reviewer notes a stock shortage pushed their installation back more than a month, though the company offered a battery upgrade at no extra cost as compensation. Order numbers are referenced in several reviews as part of a structured, SMS-updated booking process. As a solar installer in Melbourne, Solar Battery Group holds a 4.5-star average from 889 Google reviews.

4.5 / 5 · 889 totalI’m very happy with the whole process of ordering and installation of solar batteries at my home with Solar Battery Group. I definitely recommend them for an easy, trouble free time getting solar batteries installed! #326409
Marketing: After receiving from Solar Battery Group flyer in the mail, our contact with marketing team proved positive. We got a very competitive quote, which included replacing our existing 10 year old solar panels. After placing a deposit it took more than a month for a date to be set for installation. Further complicated by quoted battery product no longer being in stock. SBG offered battery upgrade at no extra change which was appreciated. Installation: Following a minor delay to the scheduled installation date, all went well. A big job but the team finished late in the day. Team leader was very obliging, answered our questions and also helped set up app for on-line monitoring. Battery Performance: Overall, very good after six months of operation. Over 90% of our electricity load is borne by the battery, even with reduced sunlight hours in late autumn and winter and during prolonged overcast days. Power bill has been substantially reduced. Overall: Battery acquisition has proved good investment. SBG have followed up with us on their own initiative to check post installation, which has been appreciated.
We had a previous battery but decided to get a bigger one to become more self sufficient. As we were really happy with the first process we used the company again. The advice provided was excellent and the installation was done by the same local guy that the group uses. The app is great as I can check exactly how much energy is available and we have not used anything from the grid even in winter. The sales people are not too pushy the process from sale to installation and after service is seamless. Well done!
The Solar Battery Group, perspective of a qualified Tradesman I'd like to say at the outset, my background of 50+ years is as a Tradesman (3 different trades), two of those, a Qualified Electrician and an Electrical Fitter. I have extensive experience with Solar and batteries of varying technologies. I've been dealing with the Solar Battery group for more than 4 years. My first battery, was installed by them, subsequently upgraded to a larger capacity twice, and the second full installation was to a bigger capacity and different brand (Dec 2025). On all of those occasions the process has been smooth and trouble free. The sales team have been excellent, the technical backup guys are spot on and the installer (the same guy every time), is a great guy whose workmanship is what I would expect from a qualified Tradie, absolutely first class. I recommend if you are starting out or upgrading, talk to the Solar Battery Group, my experience with them has been nothing short of excellent. Bob (#306350)

We had a fantastic experience with Solar Battery Group. After previous issues with another solar company, it was such a relief to deal with a team that was professional, efficient, and genuinely customer focused. They turned up when they said they would, kept us informed throughout the process, and the installation went smoothly. The whole team was friendly and easy to deal with. We are very happy with our battery system and would highly recommend them.
My opinion and personal experience only: avoid this company. Terrible experience and failed ROI. For 5 months, I have been unable to get proper support. I have a Hive battery system with a main battery and an extension battery. The main battery failed shortly after the warranty expired, while the extension battery is still under warranty—but it is useless without the main unit. For five months since the failure, I have been trying to get a reasonable answer about what can be done. The only meaningful response I received was: “Please be aware, the warranty period for your main battery has expired, which means that any necessary repairs or replacements will not be covered.” Replacement? A battery like this should last at least 15 years to justify its cost. Instead, I now have a failed battery mounted outside on my wall—a monument to a failed investment. I am also concerned about how safe it is to keep a failed battery installed there. Because of this failure, the emergency power point no longer works. Even my BBQ lights are affected. I now have to run an extension cable to power a water pump that was previously connected to that outlet. When I decided to extend the battery system, the company called regularly and sent multiple emails reminding me about payments. They were polite, responsive, and very attentive. Now that I actually need support, there is silence. The company ignores calls and emails. The call-centre representatives seem disconnected from the actual business and cannot assist—they only repeat: “We are sorry for your experience…” When I finally managed to book a service visit—four months after the initial failure report—the appointment was scheduled one month in advance. I received the invoice and paid it the same day: $280 for a technician visit. They reminded me FOUR times that someone would come. Nobody came. No call. No explanation. I called again and they rebooked. Once again, I received several reminders that a technician would come to inspect the battery. And again—nobody came. The visit was paid for on 12 March. It is almost May. Twice, nobody has shown up to inspect their own system. I am happy to see emails about “our new website with a squirrel,” but I would rather see someone come and check the failed battery. In my experience, a battery on the wall is not a long-term investment to reduce your power bill - it is a gamble. Update: Finally, the technician visited and checked the battery. He confirmed that it had failed ($280 for the visit). I then received a call offering me a replacement battery for $10,000. Buying a new battery for $10K every 6 years does not sound like a good investment. Current state: * failed battery still mounted on the wall (not sure whether an insurance company would be OK with that) * emergency power outlet is not working (it was one of the main selling points)
