Solar 1 Electrical

This review is specifically about the handling of my battery installation contract and subsequent cancellation. To be fair, my previous dealings with Solar1 Electrical were positive and the installation team themselves have always been professional and easy to deal with. I have no concerns regarding the quality of the installation work that was completed. Unfortunately, my experience with the administration and management side of the business was very different. I paid a deposit for a battery installation in October 2025 that was scheduled for January 2026. The battery was never supplied and, importantly, I was never proactively advised of any delays or supply issues. I only became aware there was a problem when I contacted the business myself seeking an update. At that point I was advised a battery could not be sourced and no installation date could be provided. After requesting cancellation of the contract in March 2026, it took multiple follow-ups over several months, numerous unanswered requests for updates, and assistance from Consumer Affairs Victoria before the matter was resolved and the remaining deposit refunded. What disappointed me most was the lack of communication. Calls were not returned, promised follow-ups did not occur, and I was regularly required to initiate contact to obtain information about my own contract. Supply issues can happen and I understand that circumstances change. However, customers should not have to chase a business for months to obtain updates, resolve a cancellation request, or receive a refund. My feedback is not directed at the installation team, who were professional in my previous dealings with them, but at the administration and management processes that turned what should have been a straightforward issue into a lengthy and stressful experience.

Avoid Solar1 Electrical at all costs! Initially the sales team were brilliant. After paying our deposit, we waited nearly 4 months for our system, followed by another 2–3 months chasing an installation date that never came. Communication was appalling and nonexistent — I had to constantly follow up, and dealing with staff (especially the manager) was frustrating and unproductive. We ultimately had to involve Consumer Affairs just to get a response, only to be told they didn’t even have anyone to install the system. If only they had just communicated this with us! They held our deposit from July to December, (failed to provide us a receipt!) then simply refunded it without any interest, accountability, apology, or attempt to make things right. We also missed out on rebates eligible as they reduced on 1st Jan. This experience was a complete waste of our time — don’t make the same mistake! We’ve since gone with another provider and had installation booked and completed within 6 weeks.

The team at Solar 1 provided me with excellent service from the get-go. I would highly recommend them for their workmanship and friendly demeanor and the timely manner in which they provided the solar panels. Locally owned is also important in supporting Bendigo's economy and it's great to see excellent local tradesmen providing A1 service

Solar1 is a great business to deal with. Very responsive. Took the time to explain it all to me. I didn't qualify for the grants unfortunately as l am on a embedded system, but they still worked with me to get a system installed that was both affordable and effective. Installation was quick and the installers made sure l understood how the inverter worked before they left. I look forward to many years of savings. You can't go wrong with Peter and the team.

Excellent service, highly recommend these guys! I emailed the team 3 weeks ago and our solar panels are already installed, checked and ready to go! Christopher offered the best deal we could find and signing was a very easy process online. Cathy in admin was always prompt to answer our questions, and Thomas and the guys who installed everything very efficient and professional. Frankly without Leah at Solar 1 Electrical I would still be floundering around in the solar sphere. I had tried a couple of times with other companies who were keen to sell me something, only to back away when they realised it wasn't going to be a straight forward install, (and couldn't be bothered to really explain why). I'd started to wonder if solar was going to possible for me. I decided to give Solar Quotes a try and Leah was very prompt at getting in touch, she listened to my story and then came back to me with a couple of options. Solar 1 pricing was comparable to other quotes but it was Leah's willingness to spend the time going through my options, answering my questions and guiding me through the rebate process, that really stood out. Nothing was too much trouble and it was the same with everyone I dealt with from Cathy in admin through to the installation team. I couldn't be happier with my decision to go with Solar 1!

Solar1 Electrical was great all throughout the process. Leah came to my property and talked me through the solar system, what she thought would be best and answered all my questions. Very informative. Cathy kept in contact throughout payment and scheduling for the job and was open to further questions on the government rebate, and the install was done smoothly by Shane on the day in very hot weather! There were some initial problems getting the solar export meter configuration sorted due to the new backstop regulations, but this was looked into and resolved quickly. Everything is working as expected from here, really happy with how it all went!
