4.5 / 5 · 173 totalI just had a door knocker by the name of Darren, who called me a Jackarse after i said i was not interested. I tried calling your company many time zero response. I have it all on video, before you try and discredit me.
Stay away from these guys, happy to sell you a solar setup but once it stops working and is clearly a warranty failure, they don’t get back to you at all.
Our elderly father singled paperwork in December for a solar battery, smart engergy came and put it onto our home next to our other battery witch was working, once they put it on it wasn't working and our other battery which was working stopped working, we then started being charged for the new battery even though it still isn't working and it is now March , we have contacted smart energy a number of times and they sent someone out once who advised us they weren't an electrician and they could not fix the problem Elderly people need to be aware of this scam as our elderly father has been scammed out of $12500 in total now for batteries that don’t work
Enquired online. Someone called and asked for information and said he’d send someone around for an assessment of our property. So far so good. Guy came around, looked at a bill and the house, and said he’d recommend such-and-such a brand at so-and-so a price. He wanted me to sign up right there on the spot. I said hang on, don’t you send a quote or a proposal. He said no, this whole meeting is where you sign up. “Didn’t they explain that on the call?” I asked what about the technical specs etc? I can’t just sign something without knowing what I am signing up for. He said oh we give you all that after you sign and pay 10% deposit. I said in my experience, companies who tell you that you need to sign up right now are generally companies not worth dealing with. He said it was his view people who didn’t want to sign right away “just wanted the cheapest battery possible.” I said no, I want a quality battery, but asked if he’d buy a new car, remodel a kitchen, or generally do any deal simply on a salesperson saying here’s the price, sign now. I asked him to send me a proposal with the details. He asked what I wanted to know. I said well, you’ve told me the brand of battery but not the size. Again, he said they’d give me all that info AFTER I signed and paid 10% deposit. He said there’s a 10 day cooling off period so it’s all cool. I disagreed, and said I am not signing right now, but I am interested and wanted a proper quote/proposal with specs. He took away the brochures he handed me on the business and left. And never sent me a quote or proposal or followed up at all. So - Smart Energy only want a sale if it’s right then and there? They’re not even prepared to send an email with an outline of the equipment and price to get the business? They care that little about making the sale unless it’s an immediate sign up and deposit paid? After this, I did some Google’ing. On the Whirlpool forums people speak about Smart Energy as giving “premium prices for average equipment” and another person suggested Smart Energy is actually a credit company. Anyhow, my experience - they wanted a sale only if I did it sight unseen with no details given except a brand name and a price. They don’t want a sale if you ask questions. They essentially just wasted my time. And yet if they sent me a quote I may well have actually gone with them. Then again, who knows - after all, I still don’t have a clue what capacity battery they were proposing.
Preston was very good and polite to me when he came here to promote benefits of using smart energy. He rang today to see how much my bill was and advised me that my normal bill if I keep doing what I am at the moment should be around $68 a quarter which is fantastic. I will have a better idea when my next bill comes as I was in credit before this one. Preston explained a lot of things I was unsure about so I am very happy with him and his advice
Our solar panels were installed quickly and efficiently. After operating for a day we felt the inverter was overheating and was making a loud noise. After a few phone calls we were assured all was fine. We are pleased with the decrease in our latest power bill as we are selling quite a bit back to our energy company.
All sales personnel and technical staff were very professional and made it very easy to understand how the system works. They arrange the date and time for the installation and they were there on time. They kept me informed through out the process. My solar sales person was Nathalie Lee and I wish to say to him, thankyou.
